Maintainence Notice: We’re making a big move this weekend

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Update: We’re up and running.

ZapTXT is moving to a new data center this weekend. We’re making the switch from a hosting solution to our own infrastructure. New facility and shiny new hardware, packed with power. A big move for us but one that will let us scale to support our service capabilities and your notification needs.

We’ve tried to minimize the interruption but we do expect to be down for a few hours this afternoon (Saturday 7/9/07) to make it all happen. Apologies for the inconvenience. We’ll be up and running as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Notice: Technorati is blocking ZapTXT

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

Technorati has been blocking ZapTXT from accessing its RSS feeds on search results pages for a few weeks.

Some of you have written to us and we are very very sorry for the late response - we have been trying to engage them to get this resolved. No luck other than a promise to look into it about a month ago.

We’ll keep providing a status update as soon as they respond to this. We’ve gone up and down the management chain but there’s been radio silence for a while. ‘Traditional’ feed readers seem to be working fine for this so its a little baffling.

Until this gets resolved, please use one of the other blog search engines if you are trying to monitor the blogsphere for a given topic.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Jabber and GTalk IM delivery method

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

(original message is here)

Due to technical difficulties at jabber.org, ZapTXT alerts to Jabber and Gtalk are not being delivered. The jabber.org server has been down for several hours. Although we know that their engineers are working hard to resolve this problem, we suggest that you add a second delivery method, either SMS or email, to any ZapTask that has an IM only delivery method.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Craigslist has changed the URLs for some feeds

Friday, September 15th, 2006

(original message here)

Note to all users who use Craigslist Search Results RSS feeds to define
ZapTasks:

It has come to our attention that the URLs for some Craigslist RSS feeds have been changed by Craigslist.

It appears that only those feeds that were created for Craigslist Search Results have been affected. In other words, if you selected feeds for a category (For Sale, Jobs, etc), your feeds have not been effected but if you did a search on Craigslist, and added the feed for the results page into ZapTXT your feeds have been affected.

If you stopped getting alerts from ZapTXT we recommend you to update your ZapTasks:

1. Turn-off you current ZapTasks that use Craigslist Search Results RSS.

2. Create new ZapTasks with the new Craigslist Search Results RSS URL.

Here’s an example of a feed that has been changed:

Before: http://austin.craigslist.org/cgi-bin/search?areaID=15&subAreaID=0&query=subaru&
catAbbreviation=car&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max&addTwo=&format=rss

Now: http://austin.craigslist.org/search/car?format=rss&query=subaru
